laser capabilities

Laser Cutting (Sheet & Tube) & Sheet Metal

Our laser cutting services support both prototyping andproduction, with tight tolerances, clean edge quality, and consistentrepeatability across batches.

Supported Materials

  1. Aluminium (5005, 5051, 5053, 5083)
  2. Mild and Carbon Steels (Chromoly / 4130) Included
  3. Stainless Steel (304, 316)
  4. Brass & Copper (Application-dependent)

Laser Types

  • Fibre laser cutting (primary) including tube
  • CO₂ laser cutting (material-dependent)

Technical Specifications

  • Sheet thickness: 0.5mm - 25mm (material dependent)
  • Tolerances: ±0.1 mm to ±0.2 mm
  • Feature resolution suitable for tabs, slots, louvers, and fine internal cut-outs
  • Consistent kerf control and minimal heat-affected zones
  • Tube lengths up to 6.5mm and 250mm diameter.

Laser cutting is ideal for flat patterns prior to bending, brackets, enclosures, panels and structural sheet components.

Sheet Metal Fabrication

Fabrication Capabilities

  • CNC press brake bending (Multiple bend radius available from 1 to 10mm)
  • Multi-stage formed components
  • Welded sheet metal assemblies
  • PEM inserts, studs and fasteners
  • Structural riveting and mechanical fastening

Bend Capabilities

  • Air bending, bottom bending
  • Tight internal radii
  • Complex multi-bend parts
  • Repeatable forming for production runs

We support both simple folded brackets and complex formed assemblies, ensuring parts are designed correctly for bend allowances, tooling constraints, and assembly fit-up.

Mechalink provides full sheet metal fabrication beyond flat cutting, including forming, joining, and finishing processes.

COMPONENTS

Design for Sheet Metal Manufacturing (DFM)

Sheet metal parts often fail not due to fabrication quality, but to poor design assumptions. Mechalink reviews every job to ensure it is manufacturable, cost-effective, and consistent.

We assist with:

  • Bend radius optimisation
  • Flat pattern development
  • Hole-to-bend spacing
  • Feature placement and tolerances
  • Material selection
  • Thickness optimisation.

If required, we can modify or fully redesign parts to suitfabrication constraints before releasing them to production.

We offer a wide range of finishing options to suit bothfunctional and cosmetic requirements.

Available Finishes

  • Anodising (standard & hard anodising)
  • Powder coating
  • Painting
  • Brushing & Polishing
  • Zinc plating
  • Passivation
  • Laser marking & engraving

Finishes are specifief and managed to ensure consistency aross batches and suppliers.
