Product Development - Engineered for Manufacture

From concept and reverse engineering through to production-ready design. We develop products that are not just innovative — but manufacturable, scalable, and commercially viable.

Great Ideas Fail Without Engineering Discipline

Many products fail not because the idea is weak — but because they aren’t engineered for real-world manufacturing, cost control, and scale. Poor DFM decisions, tolerance stack issues, material mismatches, and supplier disconnects can delay production and inflate costs.

What Product Development Means at Mechalink

• Concept refinement & feasibility analysis
• CAD modelling (fully parametric)
• Tolerance stack & fitment validation
• DFM optimisation
• Material and process selection
• Prototyping coordination
• Pre-production engineering review
• Handover to controlled manufacturing

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need finished drawings to get started?
Upward

No. You don’t need completed drawings. We can start from a concept, sketch, sample part, 3D scan, or rough CAD model. Our team will help refine and engineer it into a production-ready design.

Can you improve an existing product?
Upward

Yes. We regularly redesign and optimise existing components for cost reduction, weight savings, improved manufacturability, and performance. We can reverse engineer, analyse, and re-engineer parts for better results.

Can you take this through to production?
Upward

Absolutely. We manage the full journey — concept development, CAD, prototyping, DFM, supplier sourcing, manufacturing, coatings, assembly, QA, and logistics. You deal with one engineering partner from start to finish.

What file formats do you accept?
Upward

We accept STEP (.step/.stp), IGES (.iges), STL (.stl), DXF/DWG, SolidWorks files (.sldprt/.sldasm), PDF drawings, and ZIP folders. If you’re unsure, just send what you have and we’ll review it.
