Precision Where Conventional Methods Fall Short

Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) and other niche manufacturing methods are used when traditional CNC machining, forming or cutting methods are not viable. These processes allow for intiricate features, hardened materials and internal geometries that would otherwise be impossible or cost-prohibitive to produce.

Mechalink manages the entire process - from engineering review and process selection through to manufacturing and quality control - By working with trusted specialist suppliers that are not readily accessible locally.

Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM)

Common EDM Methods

  • Wire EDM
  • Sink (Die Sinking) EDM
  • Fast Hole / Micro EDM

Key Capabilities

  • Machining hardened steels, tool steels and carbides
  • Internal profiles and sharp internal corners
  • Thin-walled and delicate features
  • No cutting forces on the part
  • Excellent surface finish control

Typical Applications

  • Tooling and mould components
  • Precision inserts and dies
  • Aerospace and motorsport parts
  • Medical and high-tolerance components

EDM uses controlled electrical discharges to erode material with extreme precision, making it ideal for hard metals, fine features and complex internal profiles.
